Better Cotton in Pakistan

We support the Better Cotton Initiative to improve cotton farming in Pakistan

Better Cotton is better for the environment and people

Pakistan is the 4th largest cotton producer in the world with about 1.5 million small farmers producing cotton for a living.

Being a very resource-heavy crop to produce and farm, it is important to turn to more environmentally friendly ways of production.

Through the Better Cotton Initiative programme, farmers are taught to increase their cotton yield while using less pesticides and water.

In 2017/2018, pakistani BCI-farmers used 17% less pesticides and water. Their yields increased by 15% and their profit increased by an impressive 40%.

My daughter used to pick cotton in the fields or carry water for her father. Now all of my children go to school.
